UHSA is a place for homestay owner in Ubud to share anything about homestay e.g. how to improve quality, enter digital marketing etc. “Through the trainings which be held by UHSA, homestay owner will improve their personal capability so they will be ready for global competition. Besides, UHSA linked to other institutions which give benefit for homestay owner and local community in general. And keep Ubud as the main destination in Bali.”
Ida Bagus Wiryawan or most friends call him in short Gusde, is rely on as chairman of UHSA. “Home stay is one of the accommodations which have special characteristic. Actually it is part of local compound house which is elevate to meet at least basic standard so it can be rented to visitor. In the past time perhaps it was not consider as a business since most local have other main income but later on more and more local use this (renting a space for visitor) as their main business, so it must be run professionally.” “By staying in locals house compound, guest can feel the family atmosphere, and see the Balinese doing their daily activities, it is the real life of Balinese you cannot see when you stay in hotel. This shown in marketing strategy. Homestay business if it is run properly can be source of local economy beside the owner can be an agent to introduce the richness of Bali culture.” Gusde added.
Gusde was born in Ubud in 1979, his father Ida Bagus Putu Tilem is one of homestay pioneers in Ubud. His family open their house for guest to stay in 1989. Graduated from Warmadewa University in 2002, then Gusde took job training in Pitamaha Resort followed by ful time employe at Royal Pita Maha Resort both in Ubud. From 2006 till 2011 he worked for Conrad Bali Resort at Tanjung Benoa. Gusde is now managing his family homestay: Gunung Merta Bungalow and welcome you to feel real local family life atmosphere.
