Maybank Holds Sustainable Corporate Responsibility Program for Bali Community

Continuing the goodwill initiated back in 2012 tied into the international marathon Maybank Bali Marathon (MBM), PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk (Maybank Indonesia) again conducts its corporate responsibility (CSR) for Bali community. The ceremony was held one day before the MBM event, at Taman Bhagawan, Benoa and lead by the President Director of Maybank Indonesia, Taswin Zakaria, together the board of Director and Commissioner of Maybank Indonesia, with representatives from government officials in areas receiving the CSR.

In line with the sustainable support for Bali community, for this years Bali CSR effort, Maybank Indonesia will involve 4,000 students and 200 teachers to participate in the MBM 2017 marathon by providing support along the race route and and learning facilities such as school and sports equipment to 35 schools along the race route. Maybank Indonesia also provides school equipment support to deaf disabled students from sanggar tari Sandi Muni Kumara through their Global CR Day program that involves Maybank Indonesia staff from Bali branch.� During the race pack collection session at Taman Bhagawan, Maybank Indonesia also provides the opportunity to display artisan weavers through the Maybank Women Eco Weavers program and fashion show.

At the same time, Maybank Indonesia together with Maybank Foundation also introduced the entrepreneur mentorship program, RISE (Reach Independent Sustainable Entreprenurship), for the disabled, aimed to develop and capacity building for micro SMEs, in order to bring a positive impact for their surrounding community. �This training program was given to 65 disabled people in Bali, consisting of 35 disabled people in Denpasar on July 29-31, 2017, and 30 disabled people in Gianyar on August 2-4, 2017. The training participants The training participants have pioneered and develop businesses in clothing, food handicraft and electronics.

The RISE program consists of a 3-day training program method, continued with a structured mentoring program for recipients for 3-6 months. During the training period, the disabled participants will learn financial literacy, marketing strategy and changing mindset. During this mentoring program, participants will be assisted by mentors personally to help increase their revenue and business capacity, which aims to improve the livelihood of the disabled.

Furthermore, during the MBM 2017, 52 disabled athletes will join the 10 km (10K) wheelchair category, so they can experience the international marathon race atmosphere. The wheelchair category has been a permanent agenda in MBM since its inception in 2012. Sustainable CR Maybank Indonesia Sharing in Bali since 2012 is in line with our mission, humanising financial services, especially in the community. CR has been part of the good partnership between Maybank Indonesia with Bali in hosting this international event. It has been our positive effort to share for community empowerment, especially this year for Balis younger generation. During previous years, we have initiated the CR activity to support sports, community health and education, says Taswin.

CR Maybank Indonesia Sharing is part of Maybanks effort to get closer, create synergy with Bali community in providing support and taking part in executing the MBM event. Bali community support is achieved through each village participation in showing off a clean environment and showcase attractive traditional performances along the race route. Support from school kids cheering the athletes in the race are an addition to the amazing views that is unique to Maybank Bali Marathon, as a marathon well known for its natural environmental beauty and culture, that makes it different to any other international marathon events.
