Tumpek Uduh

One of the concepts in the Balinese Hindu religion is to keep nature in balance, so in Balinese culture there is a ceremony for all kind of plants called tumpek uduh. The purpose of this ceremony is to respect the trees. According to the Hindu philosophy, the plants are human beings brother and are treated as human beings, so there is ceremony when the trees are seedling, when they are planted and when they are cut down. Each tree is given an offering and then is prayed for, in order to make the tree healthy and useful.
