This February, Paradiso Ubud presents multi-talented Balinese artist Ade SATRIA, better known under the name of Ades. Originally from Bandung, Ades began painting at the tender age of six and held his first exhibition in Jakarta at fifteen.
Similar to a Renaissance artist, Ades is also a professional restorer of ancient paintings exhibited in Indonesian museums, of which he is often the curator. He has been given the responsibility of restoring paintings at the presidential palace in Jakarta. An inspired musician, Ades also plays many instruments, including the harmonica.
Ades presents the traditions of the Balinese people on the canvas. He shows the different facets of the culture of his island with a great pictorial force. He invites us on a Balinese voyage in time and space where we find familiar atmospheres evoking the work of Gauguin.
