The days in Balinese religion have their own influences, either good or bad. Kajeng Kliwon is the day that has these influences at the same time. For that reason, Kajeng Kliwon has magical power and therefor is a special day in Bali.
According to Ida Pedanda Gde Simpangan Manuaba from Griya Gede Simpangan Tegallantang, Ubud, on this day the Hindu people of Bali purify themselves in order to receive strength and power. This day is also auspicious for pamusapati, ceremony in which the spirit is invited into sacred objects such as the barong, the rangda, mask, amulets, krises etc. in order to give them spiritual power.
There are two Kajeng Kliwons: Kajeng Kliwon Uwudan and Kajeng Kliwon Enyitan. Kajeng Kliwon Uwudan is to neutralize the negative powers and Kajeng Kliwon Enyitan is to increase the positive powers.
The rituals of both are based on sincerity and honesty. For some people that have a non-medical illness, they practice soul purification at Kajeng Kliwon Uwudan. (text by koming & ruslan wiryadi)
